Hi everyone! For my first blog post I was lucky to ask Sophie and Hannah Pycroft a few questions about their company: Spectrum Collections. These two enterprising sisters from the UK started Spectrum Collections, a trendy makeup brush company. This fun and trendy beauty company that was once run from a garage is now worth 8 million pounds. Read on to find out more about them and their venture:
Can you tell us a bit about yourselves and what inspired you to start Spectrum Collections?
We couldn’t get a job in Wales that we were passionate about, there are lots of creative talent in the area but there was a lack in opportunity. We have always loved fashion and beauty and have always dreamt of running our own business so all these reasons led to the beginning of Spectrum.
What were the initial challenges the company faced?
It was just the two of us so initially it was the issue of start-up costs as everything was self-funded but also keeping on top of it, as it started to really grow it was hard to manage the social media and customer service and pack all orders with just two of us but we have grown our team significantly in those three years.
What differentiates Spectrum Collections brushes from other makeup brushes?
I think being vegan and cruelty-free which is something we are very passionate about but also the quality of brushes for the price makes us stand out on the market.
What are future plans or collaborations we can look forward to?
We are finalizing our Christmas collection, working on a Valentines collection and also have many exciting collaborations for next year that we can’t announce yet but watch this space!
